Lynn Creek Community Centre Mural Art Installation
Wilderness Within Neighbourhood.
5’ x 10’ laser engraved map mural on wood.
Bridging the gap between traditional cartography and modern fabrication, this 5’ x 10’ mural serves as a vibrant wayfinding centerpiece for the Lynn Creek Neighbourhood. Commissioned by the District of North Vancouver, the piece is a hand-drawn exploration of the area’s local amenities, tracing everything from wild waterways and trails to industrial transport routes and residential pockets.
Beyond geography, the map acts as a narrative of community spirit. A playful cast of animal inhabitants is woven throughout the landscape, symbolizing diversity, inclusion, and a warm sense of welcome.
The illustration was laser engraved across eight panels, requiring over 48 hours of precision machining to translate the intricate hand-drawn line work into a permanent, tactile public installation.
Commissioned by District or North Vancouver, Civic Public Art Program, 2025.
The Installation process.
Installed and fabricated by Bram from Willow + Stump from East Vancouver. Each of the 8 panels takes 6 hours to laser engrave to make up this 5’ wide by 10’ tall wooden map mural. And finally a floating frame secures the entire piece giving it a strong presence while protecting the art.
