Title: Old School TTC
This three-panel series originated from a collection of vintage Toronto Transit Commission streetcar scrolls from the 1960s, introduced to Carson Ting by artist Keith Stride. The aged scrolls, printed with familiar Toronto routes, resonated deeply with Ting, evoking childhood memories of traveling those same streets with his grandmother.
Using the salvaged scrolls as a foundation, Ting painted vintage TTC streetcars intertwined with characters and motifs from his Billion Buns universe. The result is a seamless fusion of nostalgia and identity—a visual conversation between eras, bridging childhood memory with contemporary imagination.
Each panel celebrates the enduring role of public transit in connecting people and places while reflecting Ting’s ongoing journey across illustration, fine art, and personal storytelling.
